I had a similar problem with my twin SUs a few weeks ago, and it was the
heat of the extractors boiling the fuel out of the carbies. Then when
they are empty, it heats them up enough that any new fuel pumped into
the carbies boils immediately, until enough enough fuel pumps in and
cools them down. A heat shield fixed it.
