Hello Mark,

The heat shield I put on was the standard type one that is used on
flat tops. It is just thin crappy tin, nothing fancy about it. I think
it is mostly about having something there to reflect the radiated
heat, and guide away the heated air. On the SU manfold there are bolt
holes specifically to mount up heat shield. I think weak ignition
coils can cause troubles starting when hot as well.
