The use of spacers doesn't necessarily mean that the wheels are FWD as
such - just that the offset isn't suitable for the donor vehicle and the use
of spacers and longer wheel studs (usually) is a cheap get around. Spacers
up to 1/2" aren't considered dangerous by racing folk and I tend to listen
to what they say. If you have ACT rego you'll get black flagged for sure if
they spot the spacers.

Terry

Terry, your knowledgeable comments on wheel fitting has turned me to
thinking about mine - I'm worried about the stresses of an ill-fitting
setup if I venture to Wakefield some time...

My car was engineered with TRX wheels, but currently has 15" Simmons -
the problem is there's two spacers on each of the front, this indicates
they're FWD wheels? What kind of basic measurements or observations
should I be making to ascertain things are not dangerously dodgey? My
car is a 1600 with 240K struts and brakes calipers and quite low.

Mark.
