Mark,

That's the radiator that most of us use with the FJ - I only used the large
fan (10"?) as on the DR30 engine the water pump got on the way. My engine in
race trim pumps out 350hp and the engine temp used to stay dead on whatever
thermostat we put in. To fit the Pulsar radiator you undo the top bracket
and turn in around as this will give you another 1/2 - 3/4" clearance. You
then only have to make up two small tags to secure the radiator to the cross
bar. You use bearing blue or similar (chalk, grease, whatever) to mark the
spots in the lower front bracket to drill holes in the correct position for
the locating pegs.

One problem to consider is what intercooler you intend to use - Supra,
Cordia (my fav) as they are a simple bolt up fit, or some sort of cut in
half Volvo truck hybrid will have a bearing on clearance at the front of the
radiator. Hope this has been helpful,

regards
Terry

Subject: need help on radiator install for FJ20T/1600!

In short what's the best thermo-set-up to use - what are you guys with
FJ20 in 1600 running with - Terry? I know it a pretty straight forward
conversion and yes I did just drop the radiator right in but having it
mounted and fans clearing everything properly is the detail I'm
discovering.

I've got an N13 Pulsar/Vector radiator and the factory dual electric fan
set-up of a an '89 Vector - big fan for cooling, little one for A/C I
believe - but good to wire up both for max. cooling. I think the only
way to install it is lower the fans in place, then radiator and bolt the
fans up with it in there 'cos i can't get both past the FJ20 pulley
wheel. But I still fear the fan's support frame will foul the pulley
wheel or fan belt.

Keen to see a set-up close so I get some idea about securing the
radiator too - best to use the Pulsar mounts with longer fabricated
brackets (foul the bonnet I think) or just hole through the top radiator
support on the car and bolt and washer on the radiator top edge?
