Bob,
The chassis is a 240Z and we used the complete system including the booster
from a 280ZX but as he invested in a R180-LS diff (Quaife 3.36:1 or 37:11)
we decided to bolt on R31 rears as the R200 from the 280Z wreck was only an
open, lower ratio which this car didn't need and comes with similar problems
as bolting one into a 1600. The 280ZX brake system has a prop valve (near
the master cyl) and the balance is spot on with the R31 rears - I must admit
that out of the box it is even better than my 1600 and god knows I've
frigged around with that for years to get it right - but I can still out
brake it mainly due to the weight difference. We used Holden Ultimate pads
with the R31 (same as mine) and also Ultimates with the 280ZX Sumi callipers
as they are still available. All round it is a brilliant braking combination
for a very fast car, the big Chevy can lay rubber at 120 kph in 2nd gear
(T400 as in auto), does 110 in 1st, 150 in 2nd, 200+ in 3rd and I've never
been in it flat out in 4th but you can imagine. It's very scary and damn
dangerous in the wet in the wrong hands.

regards
Terry

What was the brake balance like with this guys car with that
combination? Did he leave the standard master cylinder etc in place,
did he have to use proportioning valves etc?
