Gday Pete,

Did you consider the use of a chopper disk mounted to the pulley? You
could have still used hall effect, or optical sensor instead, mounted in
the same position you used. But the chopper disk could still be rotated in
place for final adjustments, allowing easier fine tuning of base timing,
therefore the installation is less critical than the positioning of
magnets in the pulley etc. If only 2 pulses per rev are required, then a
"chopper disk" could consist of a simple rectangular steel strip a bit
longer than the pulley diameter. Plus if your future mods require more
pulses per rev, simply make a new chopper disk rather than having to add
more magnets to the pulley?
