nope the skyline have a higher radiator, so they don't get the same problems

Thanks for the info Terry. Are the autos same and do the engines suffer the same head probs as the VL`s?

Kris,

Towing capacity is around vehicle mass, but any unit that has been towing a van or horse float will usually have a big mutha of a tow bar and hitch bolted to it's rear. It's a bit hard to tell if a manual has done a lot of towing, clutch problems are evident, although not conclusive (burnouts stuff clutches pretty much just as well). An auto is a bit easier to diagnose, discoloured ATF is a no no, and also an auto with a big bar but without a tranny cooler is not a good sign. The diff will probably be a tad noisy in either of them over 140,000 k's, seems to go with the territory on a R31 but usually nothing too serious.

regards
Terry

Thanks everyone,
Does anyone know what the towing capacities for the auto/manuals would be? And are there any probs/signs i should be looking for when inspecting these cars.

Thanks,

            Kris.

I'd go an R31 too, try for a Silloutte (however you spell it) as it has an LSD and some other things... probably will be a bit more expensive but should be in your price range.

Then a cheap *bolt in* conversion of an rb20det :) most importers just want rid of them

Hi all,
Time is coming for me to sell the 1600 soon(another  baby on the way) and need a bigger car. I was wondering what would be a good choice ( Nissan of course) for around $4-5000.

 I have been thinking of the following;

          Skylines- not sure which models.
          Datsun 2400- the big 1600!! ( fit an L24e)
Are there any other fuel injected Datsuns?

Could people give me there thoughts/ideas on these or other cars and what they like/recommend and things to be wary of when inspecting these cars. Feel free to e-mail me off list too.

Thanks,

    Kris.
