Personal preference type question and you'll get answers that reflect. FWIW,
my preference is an Ammeter (note the spelling for looking up web info). My
thinking here is if an electrical system i.e. battery is showing 12v being
output, but the alternator is only producing 15 amps then your heading for a
'prince of darkness" situation the next time that you head of into a night
drive in the countryside. A voltmeter will eventually tell you the same
thing but it's a bit like an oil pressure light coming on - as in normally a
bit late, whereas an oil pressure gauge usually will tell you a bit sooner
that the lube system is in trouble.
