True - and I think this has a lot to do with them being (mostly, if not
fully) imported from Japan - same as the early Japanese L20b blocks are much
preferred over late Aussie cast blocks for much the same reason.

The z blocks are the opposite, the are the strongest blocks in L or Z series
with better (harder) cast iron material used in the casting. As Peter Parry
(X lister) ued to say, in a Z block the pistons wear out and in an L series
the bores wear out.
