If you are going to use contact, get it from an auto upholsterer. They have really good stuff that is a bit thinner than the selleys type stuff, and it is supposed to handle car tye conditions better. My brother used it for his headlining in his celica.

The glue you need is Contact Adhesive, used for upholstery. You smear it
on both surfaces to be stuck together, let it tack dry, then join the tack
dry surfaces.
It can be bought from most hardware stores in tins or a tube. Selleys make
one version. Its a puke yellow in colour.
