I was spun out when I saw on the body tag that a
L18EFI has a lesser rating than a stock L16 in a std 510.
L18SSS 1970-73 are different to L18SSS from
1973.

Power increase on L16 with that package would yield
~+10%
Stock L power (DIN)
DIN
rating is what is currently used so I've quoted power in those terms to
compare against a modern day engine. Most Datsun engines up until 1978 were
quoted in the old SAE BHP rating (known as Japanese horsepower) which is
around 20% higher than DIN.
L16
- 58Kw
L16SSS - 64Kw
L18
- 61Kw
L18SSS - 66Kw
L20B
- 70Kw

Hey all, I'm a bit new to this whole game and I
was wondering if anyone could help me with some power figures for L series
engines. Hoiw many horsies do you think I'd get out of an L16 thru
a Stanza 5spd with twin SUs or a single weber, unifilters,
extractors and 2 1/4" exhaust (at the wheels in a 1600)? Same question for
L18, L20. What are the stock figures?
Cheers Carl
Rickards
