electric problem

having a bit of a problem with my new daily driver...120Y Panel Van when I went to start it this morning I turned the key to acessories, all the dash lights came on, then when I turned the key to start the motor there was nothing, no noise or anything but all the dash lights went out till I released the key. I figured flat battery.  the battery has this little coloured light on it that is supposed to tell you how charged it is. The light was bright green indicating 100% charge, but I thought what the hell I'll put it on charge for a few hours anyway. charged it for about 4 hours, battery still indicating 100% charge I threw it back in.  Same thing, nothing happens just lights go out till I release the key. I roll started it down the driveway and went for a cruise...while I was sitting at a set of lights I noticed the face on the cd player going really dim, then when I gave it a rev it lit up bright again.
