ok I did the test light on the starter wire and it
lit up fine. But I've also tried pulling the starter motor out and testing it
out of the car and it works fine, so the solonoid isn't buggered. The
ignition switch is fine. The battery is a brand new one. And the alternator is
charging.
anyone have any ideas? I've got no clue what's left
to check. Only other thing I though of checking were the earth straps from the
battery and motor, both seemed to be fine and tested ok with a test
light.
any suggestions no matter how small or blatantly
obvious appretiated, really need to get this thing going

Dave,
Get a
test light and another person, disconnect the small wire and put one end of
the test light in the spade connector and ground the other end. Get the other
person to turn the key to the start position to see if the light comes on. If
it does then the solenoid is stuffed, if it doesn`t then you may have a
buggered ignition switch.
Try wiggling/turning the key a little past the
start position and see if that does anything.
Also check the earth cable from the battery to
the engine/chassis for corrosion/bad connection.
The battery connections tight and
clean?
Good luck,
Kris

Dave,
Check to see if the start
wire has come off the starter motor. It will be a thin wire that is
connected to a flat terminal.
Kris.

having a bit of a problem with my new
daily driver...120Y Panel Van
when I went to start it this morning I
turned the key to acessories, all the dash lights came on, then when I
turned the key to start the motor there was nothing, no noise or
anything but all the dash lights went out till I released the
key.
I figured flat battery. the battery
has this little coloured light on it that is supposed to tell you how
charged it is. The light was bright green indicating 100% charge, but I
thought what the hell I'll put it on charge for a few hours anyway.
charged it for about 4 hours, battery still indicating 100% charge I
threw it back in. Same thing, nothing happens just lights go out
till I release the key. I roll started it down the driveway and went for
a cruise...while I was sitting at a set of lights I noticed the face on
the cd player going really dim, then when I gave it a rev it lit up
bright again. So I figured maybe the alternator. with the car running I
took the battery leads off and it kept running...so the alternators
charging.
any ideas guys?
