The block is the same in both engines. I had a sunny with a CA16 in it from a FWD vehicle . It had a CA20 Bluebird gearbox, extractors and webers. Went well too! Acessories are the main problem.
Common probs are, siezed crank cam belt pulley, worn cam lobes from lack of lube, damaged Crank angle sensors, damaged or unserviceable plug coil packs. Apart from those probs they are very reliable and easy to build up. Steve Newing @ EFI Technology says the biggest performance problem is getting the exhausts to flow sufficiently in relation to the inlet flow capacity. Andrew Dennis had the exhaust ports fixed on his race engine also I believe. Is it a fundamentally different block or are the accessories just the problem? I found a CA18DET in a U11 (minus turbo) for $350. Are there any common faults I should have a look out for? I guess I should check for valve train damage (e.g. damaged lobes, bent valves etc), and oil condition, anything else easy? Are there any differences between the U11/U12/S12/S13 versions apart from coil over plug vs dizzy, and FWD vs RWD? i.e. is there a more desirable variant? --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
