That sounds like it would be a good cheap upgrade Terry, but how difficult
is it to change the spring perches?? Is there welding involved or is it a
bolt on thing?
I assume when you say fit R31 brakes you mean both discs and calipers??
could you then upgrade to the four spot R32 calipers later on?
Thanks for all your help, if i can use the cheaper R31 brakes while avoiding
the strut offset problems it would be great! I like saving $$$
Any idea on the braking performance difference between this sort of setup
and the VL turbo/verada one??

Mark,
Interesting theory about Pintara brake components being in batter condition
than off a Skyline - I've not found a lot of difference with Sydney cars
that you could say suggests any hard & fast rules apply.
Front brakes - the combination that got my attention recently as doable on a
budget is to use DR30 struts modified with either coil overs or the spring
perches changed over to 1600 (you got to do one or the other and changeover
the spring perch is easier?), use the balljoint slip rings (Errol supplies)
and fit R31 brakes. R31 struts have a weird offset balljoint housing and
they don't look to me as something I'd like to fit to a 1600 without some
serious testing for suitability etc.
I'll be able to tell you more shortly as I've just bought a Series 2 GX-E
R31 Skyline and I pick it up later on today.
regards
Terry

I actually only chose the pintara ones because every R31 skyline that was
there had parts stripped off it, either calipers or discs, and i decided it
was best not to go mixing and matching. I took the wheels of a pintara and
the calipers looked the same, and the discs were in much better condition so
i thought i'd risk it :) I didn't end up getting the discs though as i think
i will buy them new. I will also be doing a front brake upgrade so i thought
i would start with fresh discs all round..
Actually any opinions on front brake upgrades would be great - i was
considering the R31 struts and brakes, or possibly the VL turbo and verada
mixture.. Are there any major pros or cons either way??
Thanks for all the help
Mark.

Good choice mate, what were your reasons for choosing the pintara ones?
Later.
