Hi Tony, I sacrificed my seals to get the trim out, but if you carefully go around bending the seal lip out a little at a time you can get the trim out being careful not to bend them.
My understanding of the locking strips from Scotts Old Rubber is that they are plastic versions of the original chrome trims. Mick Ralph (still on the list?) was selling cheap seal kits imported from Malaysia - dont know if he still is? They were significantly cheaper than Scotts. Should be some more info in the archives?
