A sad day for motorsports in general. I had the privilege to be entertained by Barry Sheene both on the track and on the microphone over many years. For those of you too young to have seen him ride I must relate the 1978 British 500GP. I was there. after only a few laps it started to rain, so BS dives into the pits and changes to wets .. not common in those days. then it really starts pissing down..Roberts and a few others also go for wets.. meanwhile BS is flying.. by the time it all settles down BS is lapping 7 yes 7 seconds a lap faster than anyone on the track. I was lap scoring for an Aust team and I had him a lap ahead at the finish as did all the teams along the pit wall. it was an amazing ride. the officials however seemed to have completely missed him and had him 2 laps down.. go figure. anyway he handled it like BS usually did.. he called them wankers and had a laugh and we all went off and got pissed. He was the nearest thing to an Aussie that a pom can get I reckon. Rest in peace Baz sadly Mick
