I met him years ago through another mate, Gregg Hansford, who as you probably know was tragically killed in a race incident. Anyway I had a bit to do with Bazza socially in those days and he was a champion. Good bloke to talk to, not full of shit, and good at his craft.

I was there. after only a few laps it started to rain, so BS dives into the pits and changes to wets .. not common in those days. then it really starts pissing down..Roberts and a few others also go for wets.. meanwhile BS is flying.. by the time it all settles down BS is lapping 7 yes 7 seconds a lap faster than anyone on the track. I was lap scoring for an Aust team and I had him a lap ahead at the finish as did all the teams along the pit wall. it was an amazing ride. the officials however seemed to have completely missed him and had him 2 laps down.. go figure. anyway he handled it like BS usually did.. he called them wankers and had a laugh and we all went off and got pissed. He was the nearest thing to an Aussie that a pom can get I reckon.
