I wonder if they have consulted lawyers about the legality of what they are doing. I think they would find that they do not own the IP rights to any tuning that they perform without having the customer specifically sign a document to that effect. The superiority or inferiority of their mapping has little to do with the customers right to have a fully working, and hence fully tunable ECU.
