I was more thinking of Demo Derby :)

I know that circuit racing is a different game all together.
But thanks for the advice.

If the car is not road worthy DONT EVEN DREAM of driving it on a track.
Going fast is about stopping fast time after time.

The first step to getting on a track is joining a car club. The club will
issue you a level 2s license that allows you to compete in most motor sport
events.

The cost of doing up a car for racing is FAR FAR more than buying a prepared
car. Remember that your car must be scrutineered before it attends a CAMS
event.

If you just wanna do laps then contact the racetrack of your choice and ask
them about practise days and what license they need.

A race car is generally far more reliable, solid and expensive than the same
road car. Even proper race use Brake Fluid for your car will cost you over
$100.00.

My 1977 Datsun Stanza has now had $27,600 in development between me and the
previous owner and yet is probably worth $7,000.00

I am toying with the idea of getting a racecar built up for use in either
Street Stocker class or demo derby.

Reason being, I bought a XD falcon a few weeks back for $50, I got it
running and it's going really well.
However it needs a little bit of body work to get it registered.

BUT... I am having a lot of trouble selling it. I even listed it on ebay for
$1 and all I got was dickheads bidding on it for a laugh, nobody actually
wanted to pay when the time came.

so the end up story is that i'd like to have a play on the racetrack!

Can anybody give me any advice, or who I could talk to, or what I need to
do, what sort of licence I might need, etc..

Much appreciated...
