Steves engine is going well and looks very torquey. It does sound good!

My sunny is still getting the bugs out. It badly needs some big pipes as its
strangled at more than 6500 rpm with the 1600 engine pipes . I am setting
the pipes up to measure exhaust pressure on a ramp up run.

I'm taking my brave pills regularly and hope to have a run at Winton at the
Marque Sports Day on the 27th.

Cheers,
Feral Errol

Errol I have not seen the car running YET !! but have been talking to steve
about its development over the last year or so he was initially looking at
around 220hp so far its made 228hp @8200 so he was pretty close with his
estimation. Last time I spoke with him he was going to go for a bit bigger
capacity with custom rods ( he currently uses race preped stock DET rods)
and also a bigger capacity crank looking at getting close to 2000cc he feels
he will be able to get around 240 -250hp with this setup and with the custom
rods will be able to spin it harder. The CA rods are only good for a
reliable 8200rpm althouigh mine ocasionally goes past this. I bet it sounds
sweet I miss the noise of a full house NA motor at big revs. If money was no
option I would love to build a CA18DE and put it into another datto coupe
would be a very competeive in under 2000cc club car.
My datto Is still a fair way off unfortunatly the misses is getting big in
the belly and has been pretty demanding with my time :( also with work
comitments life has been pretty hectic.
I have done a bit to her striped the engine bay out to repair some
blistered paint . I have made a new crossmember with lower profile rubbers
so the engine sits a bit lower its as far back as it can go. Also have the
new S13 5 speed ready to fit tunnel mods are needed for this and are also
underway. Front brakes still underway . Diff all cleaned up ready for the
mitsubishi rear discs and callipers to be mounted. All in all if I pulled my
finger out a good couplke of weekend would see it back together but I dont
tjhink it will happen for a while.
Cheers Andrew

PS: How's your sunny beast going??
