RE: Ignition switch relays?

Thanks for that reply terry, but when it comes to electrical, im not the 
best.  Do you have a wiring diagram or could you explain a procedure to me 
on how to wire up a relay to run the pump and guages.  I have oil pressure, 
water tem, tacho, air/fuel and volts, the fuel pump is a carter and i have 
set it up in the boot.  The other question i have is the key ignition in my 
1600 is the one where from the top, you can turn it left 1 for acc, and you 
turn right to on then start from the top position, so you lookat it from 
left to right its, ACC  OFF  ON  START.  is there a way i can wire all the 
guages and pump up so that they will come on in the ON position, and not if 
i turn it to ACC to listen to the stereo without the car running???  Thanks 
heaps if you can help me out terry...

A manual 1600 didn't have an ignition relay as OEM equipment, although many
of them have had a start relay fitted. If you install your own ignition
relay you would take an original ignition feed to the sense side of the
relay and this wouldn't draw any significant power. If you're mounting your
fuel pump in the engine bay then there is an ignition feed at position 1 on
the regulator plug behind the battery (1. White/blue - Ign); if you're 
going
to run your pump in the boot then you'll have to run a ign & batt feed to
the relay which should be mounted in fairly close proximity to the pump.

The Auto loom has a start relay built in but it's fairly primitive and
should be just ignored and you wire in a real ign relay as per above.
