You need to remove the exhaust to be able to tilt the engine down to the rear, to allow the box to slide off and on the engine and align the gearbox input shaft through the clutch splines.
Cant you remove the exhaust pipe from the extractors? If its welded together, I would investigate cutting it through forward of the gear box and welding in two exhaust flanges to allow the exhaust to be "broken" at this point. This makes it easier to do engine out jobs such as clutch replacements, without removing the gearbox.
