Thanks for the summary Jeff.

I have started restoring a 1600SSS and thinking about what to do with it
when its finished.  Tarmac rallies, hillclimbing and historic racing are
all possibilities.
I have a choice of running gear lying around so I was interested in what
gear I can use.  I have plenty of L16's but have you investigated the
legality of running an L18 which was homologated (in South Africa)?
L16's can be worked to give great HP but need bullet proofing of the bottom
end to take the higher revs.
