Well called the local spares place today (repco) asked if they had some sae 30 oil for gearbox's he had never heard of it before/ was unaware of any, did mention that some manuals do run auto dextron fluid these days anyway he suggested I have a look on the web, so I goes to Castrol.com.au they have a great lube look up has make and model etc look up 81 datsun bluebird 4speed BW box and low and behold they recommend vmx80 : /
I did try and put some in today but don't have anywhere to really lift the car up to have a look under her, the best was half up on a high kerb was quite good actually but do you thing I could find the damn filler : ( so still the box is running low on oil and will have to wait till I can get up to the old mans shed to put her over the pit.

I didn't pick that you have a BW box and to be honest I have no idea why the
book says SAE30. That grade must be used in a BW box for a very good reason,
unbeknown to me what that is, or even likely to be, so I can't see why VMX80
would be detrimental to it.

Terry Does that mean vmx80 should be ok? It recomends hipoy 80 or 90 for the Jap spec 5 speed so I was just unsure what to put in the BW 4 speed. Thanks Ryan
