LOL Mark I just got back from slacks creek carburettors and he reckons thats my problem too. apparrently as they get old they wear thin & then fill up a bit. he reckons that even a tiny little bit of fuel in them will make them sink & therefore not turn off the valve at the top.
it least it sounds like an easy fix.....as long as i can get the damn things for a reasonable price. i can get them new at $75.00 each .....so at that price it is tempting to just buy another whole carby set up. anybody got any floats, or perhaps old su's that are a bit past it that they dont need anymore ? that i can scavenge the parts from ? thanks again Jeff Hey, can i just recommend slack creek carburettors & efi to southside brissie people every time i go there i get free advice.....so far the poor bugger hasn't made a cent out of me so it would be nice if someone spent some money there, 41 Randall st slacks creek 3208 0006 (ps they're closed on mondays) ____________________________________________________________________________ ___________ hi, if the floats have fluid in them , something is definately wrong. there should be no fluid in them. looks like they have a hole in it. mark k ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Oldham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2004 10:46 AM Subject: RE: su's pouring fuel out overflows > i removed the floats last night & pressed the valves at couple of times. > (floats have some liquid in them) > > i am now in that enviable situation where i have only just enough pressure > to idle at 1.5 pounds on the fuel pressure guage, but if i increase it so i > can get enough fuel through to drive it then it starts to run out the > overflows again. > > the little valves look in good condition but i guess they must be damaged > somewhere inside. > > can you guys suggest alternative carby setups - are webers/delortos the best > to go for ? 40mm or bigger ? > > thanks Jeff > > ps is the ozdat site down ?....gonna check the classifieds for webers but it > wont seem to come up ? > > > Check the fuel line presssure as well. > > > Cheers > Feral Errol > www.Datrats.com.au > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jeff Oldham > Sent: Monday, February 23, 2004 2:23 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: su's pouring fuel out overflows > Importance: High > > > Guys, > > i only know enough about them to know that i am gonna get rid of em as soon > as i can afford some webers ! > > i didnt check the floats in the chambers for holes but i will tonight > sounds silly but i had the lids off to try adjusting the float height & > didnt even think about holes. > > when you say needle & seat do you mean on the side chambers (the wobbly > ones) > or something in the main body ? the main plunger that is at the bottom ? > am i making sense ? > nobody knows a mobile carby guy on brisbane south ? > > thinking about it, depending which float chamber lid i use on which float > chamber i can get 1 or both to overflow......weird huh ! > > thanks for your suggestions > Cheers Jeff > > > > > Float needle seat OK?
