I had a similar experience. Mark - check that it has water in it :)
We had a car that ran like shit like this and was hot as hell. But the temp guage was OK and the guy had been driving it all around. Turns out it lost all its water and the temp sensors were reading -40deg because they were not immersed in water! Only reason it didn't do a head gasket was because the ECU was throwing fuel at it as fast as it could. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of krogash Sent: Monday, 22 March 2004 10:36 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: off topic.................. mark, at a guess would think that it would be the computor trying to sort out a faulty sensor. apparently faulty exhaust O2 sensors are main cause as ecu tries to rectify the too rich/lean mixtures. Sons v8 with shot rings ran like a dog. Was fueling up at idle, then run lean. Just kept swinging either way until it stalled. I think an O2 sensor only has a life span of about 60,000 k's.
