I had a look at the RTA website and only "forwards facing" ornaments and protrusions are illegal. Items such as spotlight mounts on bullbars, fishing racks, etc must be removed when they are finished with. But I couldn't find anything on "bonnet pins" as such.   Now in some classes of racing it is mandatory to install bonnet pins as a secondary method of bonnet fastening, and in the same class of racing you must also be road registered.
