If historic rallying is anything like historic circuit racing you can only run 
effectively what was used in the era your car was raced in.  So it people had 
coil-overs then, you can run them.  The only areas they've freed up really is tyres 
(obviously) and brakes.

I dunno if camber is the right way to get the wider tyres under the guards, surely 
this is going to create a lack of clearance for turning the wheels?  Wouldn't you be 
better to fold the inside of the guards back?  Although I have to admit I don't know 
how much scope there is for doing that on a 1600.
