What Jeff said. Avgas is around 100 octane or a bit more and is leaded so in most cases it will be fine for a L series engine, makes them run a tad hot out the exhaust valves if WOT for extended periods like racing etc. Hard to get in Aus legally now, as it banned for most uses except in planes of course.
