The last octane booster test that was done by CSIRO on their knock machine really only proved that 2 octane booster meet there claims. One of them was nulon pro strength and the other was NF black label. With pump fuels, avgas and toluene there specific gravity is very close to each other so there is no need for drastic fuel increases although fuel with high levels of toluene(25-50%) make more hp at richer levels compared to straight fuels which is good for turbo engines which should be generally be run at richer levels than what would be normaly be the optimum for max hp on pump fuel. The best thing about higher octane on turbo cars is that a couple of simple changes can mean big increaes in power like more boost and an increase in timing. This is not always the case in a normaly aspirated engine as unless the timing has been greatly reduced running pump fuel because of high comp etc then there maybe very little gains to be had.But generally some gains can be had thru timing increases. If higher octane fuel is to be used all the time then building an engine to suit is where the best gains are to be had. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Geordie" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, November 19, 2004 4:43 AM Subject: RE: octane rating...
