Guys
I have a couple of basic wiring questions I was hoping someone would be able to help me with.
The first is to do with the wiring setup on a datsun 1600.
I am looking at the wiring diagram and am trying to figure out the ignition switch wiring and what each does.
I guessed the following:
1.white/red is the power feed from the alternator/battery
Does this line supply power to the switch for all the other wires?
2. black/white supplies power FROM ignition switch To the fuse box only when it is switched to on/start.
3. black/yellow tells the starter solenoid to send power through to the starter motor.
4. blue/black sends power to the fuse box for items which are on when the switch is turned to accesories
5. black/blue tells the ignition coil to turn on and send power to the dizzie. It bypasses the resistor (small white block)
Now is this right? If so can I get rid of the black blue line as I have an sr20det and do not need the coil and dizzie? Or do I just route this wire to the ecu power feed for start?
Lastly there is a black/white line which comes from the resitor block and goes to the fuse box via a fusable link.
I am guessing this last line keeps power to the items in the fuse box which need power when the car is on and has the fusable link to avoid surges from the coil????
Is this all right?
I need to have two wires running to my ecu from the ignition switch. One is for on and one is for start.
Which wires position should I connect these too?
What is the wire which comes from the on part of the fuse box and terminates in one of the alternator connectors. It is white/blue and I believe it is the only wire of this colour type in the car???
cheers
