I am forced to run with no brake booster so have chosen a 13/16" tandem master. It used to be a pretty spongy setup.
By my rough calculations the stock pedal to pushrod ratio is around 5.2:1 .Today I increased the ratio by only about 0.5. The rod/piston interface stopped me from trying to add more ratio but as it happens, just 0.5 made a significant difference. The pedal is much firmer, less spongy and gives more confidence.
I know some people prefer soft pedals but I'm pretty used to a firm brake boosted pedal.
You probably wouldn't need to do this mod if you have a brake booster on your 1600.
