I have run my 1600 with a bar and without using an open diff. The car is definitely quicker from point a to point b without the bar due to wheelspin (yes even with an NA l series especially on the slow corners) and you can get some inside wheel lockup under brakes too when trail braking. Put the bar on when u have an LSD or locker.
