Andrew,
Here are 2 nuggets of info from my own email
archive, for both I must give credit to that ever-wise fountain of
knowledge,Richard Clough. I haven't tried it myself but have heard of people
moving the mounting points 20mm inwards each side of the rear 1600 crossmember
in order to keep the track standard. -Rob
"I can confirm that the 240K rear trailing arms
bolt onto the 1600 crossmember. They give you about 40mm wider track from
memory. Only other problem I can see is the shock absorbers are "reverse
engineered" - the mushroom rubbers are at the bottom and the horizontal bolt on
the top.... I haven't measured both arms with the same wheels on. However, a set
of 14" Globe "Bathurst" pattern wheels off a 240k fitted nicely onto my
1600. I assume they are pretty close to the same outer edge
profile."
