Subject: Re: 240k a arm bearing
size
Andrew,
Here are 2 nuggets of info from my own email
archive, for both I must give credit to that ever-wise fountain of
knowledge,Richard Clough. I haven't tried it myself but have heard of
people moving the mounting points 20mm inwards each side of the rear 1600
crossmember in order to keep the track standard. -Rob
"I can confirm that the 240K rear trailing
arms bolt onto the 1600 crossmember. They give you about 40mm wider
track from memory. Only other problem I can see is the shock
absorbers are "reverse engineered" - the mushroom rubbers are at the
bottom and the horizontal bolt on the top.... I haven't measured both arms
with the same wheels on. However, a set of 14" Globe "Bathurst" pattern
wheels off a 240k fitted nicely onto my 1600. I assume they are
pretty close to the same outer edge profile."

hey mate, not sure what type
of 240k it was from, but thats what we used for simons rear end. 240k
arms and i think dr30 bearings and dr30 stubs and flanges. widens
the track a fair bit though. and you need to put 1600 shock mounts on
the 240k arms, and get springs that are a fair bit
shorter.

Subject: 240k a arm
bearing size
Can anyone tell my if the bearings for the
stub axle that goes in the trailing arm of an early 240k are the same
size as the 1600 bearings or are they a big and a small.Basically i'm
look to fit the larger jap r31 stubs into 1600 trailing arms but it
might be easier to use 240k arms if they have a big and a small bearing
like the
r31.
