And?

I am sure more crashes are caused by people being plain distracted or just not
being smart enough behind the wheel... But please do not belittle the effect
of drink drivers on society. I personally think we should get rid of
ridiculous speed enforcement we have here, and spend the money on 5 times the
amount of booze busses, double or triple fines and suspension periods for drink
driving, and slam the crap out of repeat offenders.

So people will still run red lights - but people running red lights don't
generally run into someone's loungeroom, or mow down 15 people standing outside
a pub, or slam into the back of a broken down car killing the guy looking under
the bonnet trying to figure out what is wrong. Drunk drivers do.

The biggest injustice with particularly young adult drink driving as Geordie
has mentioned, is that most often the driver tends to live and passengers do
not. One, drunk people are more pliable in an impact, and secondly drivers
tend to swerve away from an impact, hitting on the passengers side.

My last post on the subject.
