My experience thus far is that these plants are the most resilient thing I've ever seen. If you water them too much, all the leaves fall off, If they get too cold, all the leaves fall off. If you don't water them enough - all the leaves fall off. I've actually thrown out plants I thought were dead only to see them coming back to life in the compost pile. Keep them around and they will sprout new leaves and keep on trucking. They have a amazingly aggressive root structure. I left one pot on a gravel section by my house for a few weeks and found I could not lift it because the roots had grown through the holes in the bottom of the pot into the gravel. I've sent plants to friends in Florida and the Caribbean. Time will tell if they survive and bear fruit.
