I've noticed that here in KC. Might be because we are at the intersection of 
i-70 and i-35, but lots of UPS & yellow freight trucks here too. Diesel 
Mechanics are always in demand here...even in the current economic melt/down 
turn.

There are always good-paying jobs for diesel mechanics, especially if
you're willing to work somewhere far from civilization like on an oil
rig or in northern Alaska.  That's one job that is never going to be
outsourced---you're not going to ship a city bus over to India to have
the injectors changed.
