Isn't that what Carroll Shelby did, more or less? Look where that got him!

Speaking of projects I came across a heart-breaker the other day. A mid/late 60s Alfa Duetto 1750 (like the car used in "The Graduate") was sitting in the parking lot of a muffler shop I was visiting. I commented about the great looking Alfa and was told it was for sale - and could probably be bought 'right' as it had been For Sale for a couple of years. That made my ears perk up. So, I start walking toward it and notice it doesn't look exactly right. Then the guy I was talking to said, "BTW, it's got a Chevy V8, GM AT and a Ford 9" read end." I turned around and started back toward my car. I don't know why someone would do that to such a great old classic. If they want an Alfa with a V8 why not get a more common donor? Now that I think about it maybe I should have asked if the owner had the original parts! Darn!
