I've never had a 123 with a manual on the road, but on all the prior
models, a leaking slave was very obvious on the outside. Try just
adding a little more fluid.
Saturday afternoon I added some fluid to my '78 240D which I saw
actually fill in some open space toward the rear of the reservoir.
Looks like it might have been slightly low, I didn't add much
though, maybe an ounce.
Didn't notice any change right away but after 15-20 minutes of
driving I could definitely detect the clutch engagement point had
risen somewhat, reverse is noticeably easier to get into too. So now
I've driven it ~2 hours total and when I get home I'll need to check
again but we might have a winner. I followed all the clutch line
outside of the cabin and couldn't find any signs of leakage, Dwight
reports that the clutch MC has been replaced, I'm wondering if the
slave is leaking inside the bellhousing? Any way to easily check
other than pulling it?
