Problem is I've got a minor oil leak which deposits enough oil at the bottom of 
the bell housing theres no way to tell if there was brake fluid there too...

I think that both slave and master can leak internally, but low fluid
does indicate an external leak.  Would that leaking brake fluid flow
down to a weep hole at bottom of engine/transmission joint?

Just because the MB is new doesn't mean it's not suspect, it's just less
suspect.
