I had a '79 528i that ate a few slave cylinders, and I never found any
evidence of a leak, but you're probably right as I can't see how they
can leak internally.

My original post should have read "Just because the MC is new doesn't
mean it's not suspect" vice MB

Slave cylinders can't leak internally.  I have never heard of an
internal leak in a clutch slave.  Brake masters leak internally because
there are actually two different sections, one for front, and one for
rear.  They leak between the sections.
