Assuming the "short throw" means that you don't feel any resistance until the pedal is pushed most of the way to the floor, what you are describing is a leak which is allowing fluid out and air in, and as you drive the car the air is vibrated out faster than the leak allows it to enter, so your clutch action gets better and better as you drive the car (i.e. it is self bleeding - I used the self-bleeding method following replacement of a clutch MC on a 123 car and slave cylinder on a 201 car).

When I left the house it was a big grind into reverse, the pedal throw was quite short. By the time I got to work it would go into reverse easily, pedal throw was noticeably longer. Crazy... -Curt Date: Wed, 27 Oct 2010 09:14:29 -0400 From: MG <[email protected]> To: Mercedes Discussion List <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] 240D clutch saga continues Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Well that solves the taste test problem. Any leak on the slave cyl will be visible. Keep track of the fluid. You may see some slight loss as the air may to some extent self bleed. At the same time you should notice that the clutch will start to engage and disengage with the peddle further from the floor. You should still push the peddle all the way down each time you shift though. I checked the fluid last night, no detectable loss of fluid... -Curt _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
