Slave is external to the bellhousing.

I checked the fluid last night, no detectable loss of fluid...

Like Max said a while ago taste it. If it just tastes oily then 
it's oil. If there is a bitter taste then brake fluid is present 
= slave cylinder leak.

Then again there may be so little brake fluid in the mix that you 
might not taste it.

Is the slave cylinder even inside the bell housing? If you said 
before that it was then I apologize, guess I missed it,
