And, based upon what I read in the paper here this morning, it may be far from over. The normal wet period lasts until March so there are likely more storms coming.

Along with other countries the American government have offered to help in any way they can.

The people of Queensland will be grateful for any help they can get - last reports were that the 70 cities & towns have been affected, there have been 15 deaths, 61 people are still unaccounted for & 8,500 people are isolated in remote towns due to the flood waters.

Damage bill so far is $11billion & rising.

75% of Queensland has been affected by these floods & we will feel the effects of this across Oz for some time. Mines have been flooded & food prices - which are high already - will escalate as a result of all the crops & livestock that have been wiped out.

Towns in Northern New South Wales are now being affected as the water flows down from Queensland.

Hendrik & I will donate what we can to help the state & we are far better off than the people of Haiti, but this would have to be the worst natural disaster to ever hit this country.
