I also say "Thanks" to everyone on the list. And I have an insurance question (boat not car).

I've never made an insurance claim in my life. But my sailboat (in storage at a boatyard for the winter) blew over in a windstorm 10 days ago and sustained considerable damage. My insurance company and the boatyard's insurance are currently arguing over who's responsible.

I'm expecting to get an offer from one of them for damages. I'm pretty sure it won't be totalled. I'm estimating that the damage will cost about $15K to fix and the boat is worth maybe $25K to $30K.

My feeling is that I would prefer NOT to repair it, since I probably wouldn't trust the boat in harsh conditions and we've been thinking of changing boats anyway.

So, what kind of offer am I likely to get? What are my options when I do get the offer.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I don't want to walk into this deal blind.

Thanks again,

Ron Dwelle
