I will second that. Every single time I have had work done on any of my
vehicles at a shop, by "professional" mechanics I have been disappointed
about something. That is why I am driving old VW's and MBZ's. I can fix
them myself and be happy knowing I did it the way it was intended to be
done; with the proper procedure, tools and materials.

When I take something to a specialist, it's because I lack the proper tool to do it right. That's why it pisses me off to no end when every single time they botch the job twice as badly as I would have if I'd done it with the wrong tools.

The only exception has been one particular engine machine shop. The worst thing they ever did to me was fail to get a valve keeper fully installed one time. I consider it my fault that the head was on the engine in the car before I noticed as I installed the rocker arms. I stuffed a rope in the cylinder, rolled the piston up against the rope and borrowed a top mount valve spring tool to fix it.
