As many of you are aware, my 1985 300TD with the CA version engine emitsw smoky odors when the heater comes on. It's likely I have an exhaust leak, or perhaps an issue with the trap oxidizer. The car makes no louder than normal exhaust noise and runs quietly.
Question: What's involved in diagnosing the source of the leak/problem, and how easy/challenging will it be to fix?
