That sounds no worse than the results of following one of those gawd-awful 
belly dump trucks for a few miles.

There was a short period of time in the late '70s or maybe early '80s where
the hot tip for keeping dash vinyl intact was to coat it with baby oil.
Guess this seller didn't hear that it didn't work...

Also, while the car does look nice, it also looks like it's been resprayed.
